Insert spacers along the edge of the first row, and install the second row of tiles adjacent to the first. Continue spacing and adding tiles until the room is fully tiled. Remove all of the spacers, then roll the entire floor with a floor roller to ensure that each tile is fully adhered to the subfloor.
Pack the joints with a rigid rubber float. Remove the excess at a 45-degree angle. To reduce the area that will have to be cleaned, don't plow the grout all over the tile as you would with ceramic tileâ€”use the narrow end of the trowel and cover only the gaps between tiles (Photo 12).
Installing Vinyl Tile. Begin laying the tiles from the center of the floor where your two adjusted reference lines cross. If your tiles aren't self-adhesive, spread vinyl flooring adhesive with the trowel's notched edge, combing it out in beaded ridges according to the manufacturer's directions.
